The PRS Silver Sky is the result of a close collaboration between Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. More than two and half years in the making, the Silver Sky is a vintage-inspired instrument that is at once familiar but also newly PRS through and through. This model was based off of Mayer and Smith’s favorite elements from 1963 and 1964 vintage instruments, resulting in an idealized version of a vintage single-coil guitar. The attention that was paid to every detail sets this guitar apart.<br><br>Some of the more distinctive specifications include, the headstock shape, tuners, neck and fretboard, bridge, and pickups and electronics. The headstock shape is based on PRS’s trademark design, but inverted to both accommodate Mayer’s playing style and also to keep a consistent length of string behind the nut, which makes staying in tune easier. The tuners are a traditional vintage-style, closed-back tuner, but with PRS’s locking design. The neck shape was modeled after 1963/1964 vintage instruments, and the fretboard has a 7.25” radius. The moment your hand grabs this neck, it just feels right. Like the tuners, the steel tremolo takes a classic design and incorporates PRS’s trem arm and Gen III knife-edge screws. The bridge on the Silver Sky is setup flush to the body in the neutral position so that the tremolo bridge only goes down in pitch. By keeping the bridge in contact with the body, the guitar itself is acoustically louder, which improves the signal to noise ratio of the single-coil pickups. The 635JM single-coil pickups are very round and full, with a musical high end that is never “ice-picky” or brash.<br><br>Other high-quality specifications include a bone nut, a molded metal jack plate that is curved and makes plugging and unplugging a guitar cable hassle-free, retooled knobs, fretwire that is slightly smaller than what you’d find on most PRS electric guitars, and PRS’s double action truss rod.

Introducing the groundbreaking Guilele from Cordoba! A crossover instrument with the size, sound, and feel of a tenor ukulele but with six strings, tuned just like a guitar, only higher*. <BR> <BR>This small six string is light, portable and a great travel option for guitarists on the go. It’s also a fantastic instrument for the ukulele player looking to explore the guitar, or for the adventurous guitarist searching for new sonic territory. <BR>The Guilele and Guilele CE are built with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a rosewood fingerboard, and a natural satin finish. The Guilele CE features an active two-band EQ undersaddle piezo pickup system, and a cutaway for added upper register access. *The Cordoba Guilele is designed to be tuned up a 4th from standard guitar tuning (same as a guitar with a capo at the 5th fret – A D G C E A – low to high), in the register of a traditional ukulele. Because the scale length of the Guilele is so much shorter than a guitar, standard E guitar tuning is not possible on this particular instrument, even with an alternate set of strings

There's a good reason that the JH-600 has long been the most popular model in our Jeff Hanneman Signature Series. It all gets back to the basics of a lean and mean guitar that could handle the powerful playing of a thrash metal icon. Jeff is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on through the music of Slayer, and through players who continue his legacy via his Signature Series guitars. With the JH-600, you get a guitar with the stability to handle Jeff's frantic leads and brutal rhythms, with neck-thru-body construction at 25.5" scale, an alder body, and a three-piece maple neck with ebony fingerboard that features Hanneman's own custom "H Dagger" inlays. This guitar has excellent components that include Grover tuners, a Kahler Hybrid bridge, and an EMG 85 (neck)/EMG 81 (bridge) active pickup set.

This traditional shape belies its contemporary set of tools that include a set-thru, U-shaped three-piece maple neck for smooth access all the way up and down the fingerboard. Its sound is powered with an excellent set of Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickups. Its flexible controls include individual volume knobs for each pickup, a tone control with push-pull access to spilt the pickup coils, and a pickup selector toggle. The S2 Standard 24’s solid mahogany body and set mahogany neck give this guitar a distinctive resonance and powerful sustain. And when mahogany’s rich, round, warm tone meets S2 HFS and Vintage Bass pickups, there are plenty of clear highs and strong mids to be dialed in. With its solid build and electronics platform, the S2 Standard 24 is a true player’s guitar that handles as well and sounds as good whether it’s plugged straight into your amp or running through your pedal board. The original PRS Standard, introduced in 1987, evolved from Paul Smith’s Pre-Factory all-mahogany guitars. Reimagined here for the S2 Series, the Standard 24 is gig-ready with a pricetag to match. The subtle aesthetic of mahogany and vintage vibe of pickguard-mounted electronics give the S2 Standard 24 an understated look for players who prefer a stripped-down approach their music.

The C10 has the neck shape and flat fingerboard characteristic of traditional classical guitars, and includes the added benefit of a two-way truss rod built into the neck. Cordoba recently expanded upon the C10, offering two new options that appeal to guitarists from all backgrounds: the C10 Parlor, which has a 7/8 size body shape and 50mm nut width, and the C10 Crossover, which is a full size guitar with a slim neck profile, radiused fingerboard, and 48mm nut width. <br><br>Aesthetic touches like the mother-of-pearl weave rosette inspired by a 1920’s Domingo Esteso guitar add a touch of vintage elegance to this best-seller. Other premium features include an ebony fingerboard, rosewood bridge, high gloss finish, and Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The C10 includes Cordoba’s lightweight polyfoam case.

The D10-CE belongs to Cordoba’s Acero series, a line of all-solid steel strings approached from a classical or Spanish guitar building perspective. Most notably, Cordoba is using an integrated neck joint or “Spanish Heel” instead of a traditional dovetail joint to join the body and neck of the guitar. This method of construction offers a lighter weight and more stable heel joint that increases resonance and is less prone to movement as the guitar ages. The bracing pattern is a hybrid of a Torres style Spanish fan pattern and X-bracing, and allows the top to move freely with an explosive attack and big, dark tone. The D10-CE dreadnought appeals to the player looking for the darker, and more dynamic tone that is typically associated with solid rosewood back and sides. The D10-CE also features a solid Engelmann spruce top for added clarity along with a beautiful ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge and binding. The styling is refined and sleek, using acacia wood on the double ring rosette and 12th fret fingerboard inlays, capped off with Cordoba’s signature elevated headstock with a rosewood strip and Mother of Pearl inlay. The finish is a thinly applied high gloss polyurethane. The D10-CE also comes with the Acoustic Fidelity System II (AFS), Cordoba’s new proprietary pickup that offers both piezo and mic blending capabilities. Other features include a TUSQ® nut and saddle, gold Grover tuners, Elixir® NANOWEB® Light Gauge (.012-.053) strings, and a Cordoba deluxe archtop wood case with built in HumiCase humidification.

The PRS SE Mark Holcomb solidbody electric guitar was engineered to be an affordable way to nail the prog-metal tones of Holcomb's band Periphery. This highly specialized electric guitar boasts features that help Holcomb excel at his technical playing style, such as a proprietary fixed bridge and a 20" fretboard radius. The 25.5"-scale-length maple neck with an ebony fingerboard adds punch and clarity to the tone. The headstock has been redesigned to now sport Paul Reed Smith's signature, adding extra "cool" factor. And the Holcomb SE is outfitted with a pair of his signature Seymour Duncan pickups that retain clarity, even in high-gain situations.<br><br>The guitar playing in Periphery is quickly becoming the standard for today's progressive metal, and Mark Holcomb is a lot of the reason why. His style combines exotic note runs, intense jack-hammer riffing, and fluty single-note melodies, and he needs a guitar that can deliver on all fronts. While his Maryland-made signature model has been a huge hit for PRS, this SE model makes his signature instrument attainable for a much wider audience. We're huge fans of Mark's playing and have enjoyed having him here at Melody House on multiple occasions.<br><br>Every aspect of the SE Mark Holcomb solidbody electric guitar has been crafted to allow an unrestricted playing experience that craves high-speed fretwork. The maple neck is capped with a beautiful piece of ebony that feels sleek under your fingers, while its 20" fretboard radius aids in wide bends and nimble string-to-string playing. The neck also boasts PRS's famed wide-thin neck carve that is full enough to remain comfortable, but thin enough for you to fly up and down the frets.<br><br>The engines that make the SE Mark Holcomb run are its duet of Mark Holcomb signature Alpha and Omega Seymour Duncan passive humbucking pickups. One of the original models in Cordoba’s Luthier series, the Cordoba C9 is built with the choice of a solid Canadian cedar top or solid European spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides.<br><br> The C9 features a fan bracing pattern, which gives the center of the soundboard more surface area to vibrate and respond to the tension of the strings. A more responsive soundboard makes the guitar louder, and provides better tone. The C9 is the perfect choice for the serious classical guitarist, or for any player looking to upgrade to a concert-level instrument at an affordable price. <br><br>Like every guitar in the Luthier series, the C9 is built with Spanish heel construction, where the top of the guitar is attached to the neck, the sides are added next, and the guitar’s body is sealed by the installation of the back. This construction feature allows the entire instrument to vibrate as one unified piece. <br><br>The C9 has the neck shape and flat fingerboard characteristic of traditional classical guitars, and includes the added benefit of a two-way truss rod built into the neck. <br><br>Cordoba recently expanded upon the C9, offering two new options that appeal to guitarists from all backgrounds: the C9 Parlor, which has a 7/8 size body shape and 50mm nut width, and the C9 Crossover, which is a full size guitar with a slim neck profile, radiused fingerboard, and 48mm nut width. <br><br>Aesthetic touches like the mother-of-pearl weave rosette inspired by a 1920’s Domingo Esteso guitar add a touch of vintage elegance to this best-seller. Other premium features include an rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge, high gloss finish, and Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The C9 includes Cordoba’s lightweight polyfoam case.

The Cordoba C9 Parlor is ideal for the player looking for the feel, comfort, and ease of playability that a smaller instrument provides, while retaining the sweet, warm tone created by all-solid wood construction.<br><br> Built with a solid Canadian cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides, the C9 Parlor features a 7/8 body size, 50mm nut width, and the fan bracing pattern found on most Cordoba guitars.<br><br> This bracing pattern gives the center of the soundboard more surface area to vibrate and respond to the tension of the strings. The D9 is the first of Cordoba's new Acero series, a line of boutique, all-solid steel strings approached from a classical or Spanish guitar building perspective. Most notably, Cordoba is using an integrated neck joint or "Spanish Heel" instead of a traditional dovetail joint to join the body and neck of the guitar.<br><br> This method of construction offers a lighter weight and more stable heel joint that increases resonance and is less prone to movement as the guitar ages. The bracing pattern is a hybrid of a Torres style Spanish fan pattern and X-bracing, and allows the top to vibrate openly with an explosive attack and warm, sweet tone. <br><br>The D9 dreadnought features the classic combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, giving it a warm and balanced sound great for all musical styles. It also has a beautiful rosewood bridge, binding and fingerboard. The styling is refined and sleek, using Acacia wood for the rosette and 12th fret fingerboard inlays, capped off with Cordoba's signature elevated headstock with a mahogany overlay.<br><br> The finish is a thinly applied high gloss Nitrocellulose lacquer. Other features include a TUSQ nut and saddle, chrome Grover tuners, Elixir NANOWEB Light Gauge (.012-.053) strings, and a Cordoba deluxe arch top wood case with built in HumiCase humidification.

Michael "Whip" Wilton is the co-founder of Queensrÿche, a band that launched in 1982 and crossed into many musical areas from hard rock to progressive metal to hugely popular power ballads, influencing thousands of musicians along the way. His latest LTD Signature Series guitar is the MW-TR1, and it's representational of the killer stripped-down, bolt-on models that Whip turned to often in the band's early days. Featuring a large Queensrÿche "Tri-Ryche" symbol on the guitar's body as well as on fingerboard inlays, the MW-TR1 has a great vibe for serious fans of Michael and the band, and plays like a dream with its comfortable alder body, a thin U-shaped maple neck, and maple fingerboard with 22 extra-jumbo frets. The MW-TR1 offers Grover tuners, a Floyd Rose Special bridge, and a completely awesome set of Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) and Seymour Duncan Distortion (bridge) pickups.

The SE Custom 24 7-String, PRS Guitars first 7-string production instrument, takes familiar PRS aesthetics and playability to new sonic territory. Using the Custom 24 as a platform, this guitar adds a low-B string to offer increased versatility to the player who wants more tonal range. Whether you’re playing rock, jazz, or metal, this guitar provides extended low-end growl, increased chordal variance, and a greater ability to embellish standard chords. The SE 7-String features a beveled maple top with flame maple veneer and mahogany back, a 24-fret, 25” scale length maple neck with rosewood fretboard and bird inlays. The electronics package pairs SE HFS and SE Vintage Bass pickups with a volume, push/pull tone, and 3-way blade switch. The SE HFS and SE Vintage pickups were designed to mirror the Maryland-made pickups of the same name (used on the Custom since 1991). Originally meaning Hot, Fat, and Screams, the HFS was the evolution of the original Standard treble pickup. The HFS is a powerful pickup with a balance of aggression, clear highs, strong mid-range, and strong bass. Likewise, the Vintage bass is the evolution of the original Standard bass pickup and has a warm high-mid sound that is excellent for many musical styles.

PRS may be best known for their high quality guitars with 25" scale necks but it turns out they are pretty damn good at making baritone guitars as well. As part of the SE range this 27.7" baritone scale guitar feels and sounds great out of the box with all of the same playability you love out of a Custom 24. Downtuned As this guitar is a whole 2.7" longer than your standard 6 string guitar it had to be tuned lower to get similar tension. So this guitar comes out of the box set up for B standard which is a fair bit lower than you may be used to with an electric guitar. Normally reserved for extreme metal styles this tuning works incredibly well for much more than just that. It gives the guitar this rare low rumble and thump on cleans while still remaining clear. On crunch tones it breaks up beautifully and gives you some new dynamics you can add to your blues or rock playing. Solid PRS Build You can't go wrong with a PRS it is as simple as that. No matter if you are looking to spend thousands on a custom PRS Private Stock guitar or just a few hundred on one of their SE models you are going to get a high quality guitar. This guitar is no different from any of the others and is made to be a workhorse that will just keep on working. With a Mahogany Body and Maple top as well as a Mahogany neck with Rosewood fretboard the tone of the guitar is warm with a tight attack. This combination has been a staple in the world of electric guitars for a long time as it works great for almost any style. Just plug in to your favourite amp and away you go. Here's what PRS say about the SE 277 Baritone Guitar Built with a longer 27.7" scale length, the SE 277 Baritone is perfect for heavier, more aggressive guitar playing. But this is no one trick pony. The 277's Tone Furnace pickups deliver articulate growl, allowing the 277 to handle blues and funk with flair as well. Additional appointments include a string-through bridge design for strong, resonant tone.

The Rose belongs to Cordoba’s Fusion series, a line of high quality crossover or hybrid style nylon string guitars designed to play and feel like steel string acoustics. Most notably, the necks are carved thinner than traditional Spanish-style “classical” guitars and have a nut width of 48mm (1 7/8”).<br><br>With the option of 12 or 14 frets to the body on most models, these slimmer dimensions combined with a radiused fingerboard give the Fusion series the feel and playability that most steel string and electric guitar players are used to. Tonally the Fusion series models have all the warmth, body, and resonance that traditional “classical” nylon string guitars are known for, and are built using traditional Spanish guitar methods like domed soundboards and fan bracing patterns in the design. <br><br>Additional features include cutaway and non cutaway body styles, Fishman or BBand pickups, 2 way adjustable truss rods, and Savarez Corum Alliance strings that offer the higher tension feel that most crossover players are looking for. <br><br> Cordoba’s Fusion series was first to effectively merge the feel of a steel string with the tone of a “classical” guitar, and with a variety of wood options and finishes is the most comprehensive line of crossover style nylon string hybrids on the market.<br><br> The 14 fret model has a more familiar upper register for steel string players. The bridge is shifted slightly forward from the center of the soundboard, increasing ease of playability for the steel string or electric player. More frets are exposed, creating an easier territory for soloing.

Of all the guitars in the Master Series, the Rodriguez is the most powerful across all registers. Notably “Spanish” in sound, the tone is warm, lush, and round, with bouncing basses and fat, singing trebles. It offers an instant responsiveness and a big, explosive attack at the beginning of every note.<br><br> This guitar is handmade in the USA. Big, powerful Spanish sound with instant response. Materials: Cordoba’s Rodriguez is built with a solid Canadian cedar top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. It features a Spanish cedar neck and African ebony fingerboard, and Rodriguez’s 5-fan bracing pattern with a transverse brace. <br><br>Cordoba added a few modern refinements, such as a truss rod, geared tuning machines, durable finish, and non-gut strings. The result is an instrument that exemplifies the authentic Rodriguez design, voicing, and feel, and captures a rare piece of guitar making history. The Process: Cordoba obtained a 1970s Rodriguez model and studied it inside and out, playing it over and over.<br><br> The mission was to understand the essence of what gives this iconic guitar such an amazing voice and feel, and then recreate an instrument that possesses these characteristics and carries the same magic in its DNA. The process was a combination of science and feel; the wood thicknesses of the top, backs, sides, and braces were measured to the nearest hundredth of a millimeter, bracing patterns traced and mapped, and details of the materials, inlays, wood grains, and vibrations were all carefully analyzed. <br><br> The guitar was played and listened to for hours to gain an understanding of the balance between the trebles and basses, resonance of the top, and a sense for the feel and response of the guitar when played in a variety of styles and environments.

The Torres is a small body guitar with a big voice and a shortened scale length. It features a narrower nut width and slightly narrower neck that is extremely comfortable to play. This guitar is handmade in the USA. Small body with a big voice. Materials: Beyond the beauty of the construction, one of the most amazing characteristics of an original Torres guitar is the amount of sound produced by such a small and lightweight instrument. <br><br> After examining three authentic Torres guitars, we decided to base the construction of our own Torres on an 1856 model that features a smaller body (24.8”) and shorter scale length (640mm). The Cordoba Torres is built with a solid Engelmann spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. The neck is Spanish cedar, topped with an African ebony fingerboard.<br><br> A few modern refinements such as a truss rod, geared tuning machines, durable finish, and non-gut strings were added to improve on what was not available in the 1800s but are essential today. The result is an instrument that exemplifies authentic Torres designs, voicing, and feel, and captures a rare piece of guitar making history. <br><br>The Process:<br>- The three original Torres guitars were studied inside and out and played over and over.
