The Future of Live Concerts

What is the future of live concerts?

Though the businesses may be in an uncertain state right now, live concerts have suffered 'one' of the biggest hits of all (probably just after aviation). Now no one is exactly certain on when we can all go back to 'normal' which in this case includes going to your local concerts, but we do know that for now the way forward is through virtual concerts.

You may have noticed that on Instagram and Youtube more musicians, celebrities and businesses have been hosting various live concerts through their platforms. Through doing this, it has garnered a lot of attention and somewhat began a 'trend' with a mass of influencers flooding your Instagram feed with their frequent lives.

But is this really the new way forward when it comes to live concerts? Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there will be any official concerts throughout the rest of the year, so for now we all have to make do of what we can. However Instagram and Youtube lives aren't the only ways musicians have been keeping their fans entertained, drive-thru concerts (yes just like the drive-in cinema) has quickly picked up and garnered a lot of attention through social media as you get to listen and watch within your own personal space of a car and not have to worry about bumping into others.

Finally, a South Korean company known as SM Entertainment that represents some of the biggest Korean groups today, has started an online paid concert known as Beyond Live where they host weekly live virtual concerts that combines the artists performance, stage production with AR and 3D interactive graphics and live video call with fans. Another feature that was included is the option to synchronize what is known as a fanlight (a lightstick that represents the artists) with the actual live concert and having the fanlight change colors per song making this a way for the fans to "feel" as if they're virtually there cheering on the artist.

This really goes to show how music really brings people together and not even COVID-19 can stop a musician. For the time being we'll all have to get used to the new lifestyle of virtual concerts and wait for the day things calm down so we may all go out and enjoy a live concert again.
