The 12" tom (the "Middle-C" in the Reference tom spectrum) is all Maple for the tonal center. 13," and larger toms add Mahogany inner plies to lower pitch and add tonal depth. Floor Toms and Bass Drums are an 8-ply Mahogany/Maple fusion to maximize bass frequencies.
